The University of Waterloo is partnering with UPES, a leading multidisciplinary university in India, to enhance global learning opportunities. With an initial focus on executive education, this collaboration aims to bring Waterloo’s expertise in professional, executive and corporate education to senior leaders and working professionals in India.

Joining forces to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Waterloo and UPES have committed to creating accessible, high-quality upskilling and reskilling opportunities designed to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy. Central to this partnership is the integration of cutting-edge, flexible learning solutions by WatSPEED—Waterloo’s professional, executive and corporate education arm—with UPES’ established presence and reach in India.

“As technological advancements and global forces dramatically reshape industries, education will be essential for driving innovation and economic growth,” says Vivek Goel, president and vice-chancellor of the University of Waterloo. “Our collaboration with UPES to deliver professional and executive education will equip learners with the skills and adaptability required in the dynamic Indian economy. We look forward to working together to build transformative educational pathways that transcend borders and embody our commitment to shaping a better future for humanity and our planet.”

The partnership will also see the development of Master’s progression pathways, enabling qualified UPES learners to join select on-campus programs by the University of Waterloo. This will serve as an important step in connecting learners with Waterloo’s globally recognized and innovative education models.

“UPES has worked tirelessly to forge meaningful collaborations with some of the world’s most prestigious institutions,” says Sunil Rai, president of UPES. “Our collaborations with leading global universities provide learners with unique international exposure, equipping them to excel as skilled professionals in a global economy. This partnership between UPES and the University of Waterloo highlights our commitment to delivering globally benchmarked education.”

Together, the University of Waterloo and UPES are uniquely positioned to address the challenges of a complex global economy. This shared commitment to upskilling also reinforces Waterloo’s mission to deliver education that prepares the leaders of today and tomorrow for the opportunities of the future.
