WatSPEED has received a 2026 CASE Circle of Excellence Gold Award for its Introduction to Machine Learning online workshop.
Recognized with a Gold Award in the Special Events – Online (Single) category, the workshop was honoured for its innovative approach to engaging professionals through accessible, high-quality online learning.
The CASE Circle of Excellence Awards are the premier recognition program for educational advancement, celebrating creativity, ingenuity, and strategic excellence at institutions around the world. This year's competition attracted more than 4,185 entries from institutions in 33 countries, with winners selected through a rigorous peer-reviewed process.
Award recipients are recognized for outstanding achievement in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, marketing, and professional education, with submissions evaluated for their quality, innovation, and impact.
WatSPEED's award-winning Introduction to Machine Learning workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of machine learning through expert instruction, a live Python demonstration, and an interactive question-and-answer session. The free, one-hour online workshop attracted more than 400 registrations and provided professionals with a practical introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) while connecting them with continued learning opportunities at the University of Waterloo.
